Visualization in Scientific Computing is a new research field that proposed and developing on later stage of the eighties of the 20th century. In recent years, it is expanded to visualization in engineering calculation and data measure. It has significance in many aspects, widely used in these fields such as meteorology, oil exploration, calculate hydrodynamics, molecular biology, medical education and medical treatment, finite element analysis.Visualization in scientific computing play a very important role in numerical calculate. Not only does it reveal the significant characteristics of the complicated computing results to engineers and technicians by visual tools, but also improves and develops efficient computing methods and new strategy based on steering computing. Although two dimensional visualization algorithms have been widely used in the engineering software, most of the advanced 3D methods are now still under research because it hardly meet the real-time requirement of engineer apply due to the complexity of three dimensional. The application of Visualization in discrete element method is not so good as the people's will.Cundall, etc propose discrete element method thought first at the beginning of seventies. In the eighties, discrete element method software include pre-process and post-process is developed, but figure is simple; The use and start is relatively late, but development rapidly of discrete element method in our country, main research discrete unit of discrete body structure. Through the development for many years, a lot of project practices has already proved that it is an indispensable method to study the complicated material mechanics performance, which shows its superiority in studying non-continuous body question. At present, there is no one effective numerical computing technology come to deal with that the mechanics model of material transfers from continuum to non-continuum. Our main research work is to try to improve DEM to finish the work. No matter at domestic or overseas, the pre-processed and post processed of discrete element method is a weakness. There is little commercialized software. The thesis is focus on the visualization of discrete element method. According to the requirement of subject, develop " discrete element method engineering calculation software system".The main work and the originality of the thesis is listed as follows:1. Combine the requirement of the scientific research task, develop the pre-process and post-process system of discrete element method. It can not only analyse the numerical result computed by discrete element method , but analyse the numerical result computed by other methods , which expends its practicability. The design of this software system did not adopt the structure design method , but adopted the design method of face target which has characteristics, such as encapsulation nature, succession, deriving nature, etc. And can continue improving or adding the function in case of not influencing the older functions,inavoid the repeating work . Use the system, we calculate a large amount of examples, such as colliding at a high speed, explode and rank silt course, wears at a high speed etc. Illustrate the dependability and practicality of the procedure too at the same time.2. Use the mew accelerate function of OpenGL to accelerate the units display. Have adopted the three dimension graphics and OpenGL's technology , it makes use of Stencil test to carry on cutting operation, which reduces complexity of programming and has raised the speed and efficiency of displaying.3. In the post-process, uses the Microsoft medias technical to design cartoon display mode, it raises cartoon speed and saves disc space, it can produce majority prevailing medias form. In interpolation, introduced DSI method, which improve the interpolation method of isoline, raise algorithm speed and efficiency, satisfy the real-time quality request.
