The wavelet analysis theories and methods are in developing and far from maturation. Wavelet analysis and its application have great potentialities in many applied fields of natural science, and its application in hydrology and water resources is increasing. This paper has deeply researched the application of wavelet analysis theory in hydrology and water resources and widened its application scope in them; consummated the application methods which based on wavelet analysis; established firm development base for further applying wavelet analysis technologies effectively and conveniently.The major research results in this paper as following:Firstly, the paper has analyzed the choice of wavelet function and the algorithm of wavelet transform. Wavelet function is not only the important content of the wavelet theory but also the precondition and condition in analyzing hydrological time series. It is the key in the study. Then several kinds of wavelet function, which are fot to hydrological analysis and simulated forecasting, have been discussed in the paper. This research work provides the methodology base for engineering application.Secondly, the satisfactory results have been got, by using the multi-scale and multi-resolution idea of the wavelet analysis and the method of self-adaptation filter to filter the noise of electro cardio-signal and detect QRS wave.Thirdly, the paper has studied the problem of multi-time scale transform in hydrology and water resources. The characteristic of multi-scale in hydrological time series has been well reflected. The research about scaleproblem gives forceful proof for rational exploitation and optimum configuration water resources.Fourthly, researched more about the coupling way between wavelet analysis and ANN, fully developed all their advantages, provided more effective and accurate model for hydrology and water resources and load forecasting.Fifthly, discussed the random simulation methods, which based on wavelet analysis and served for the random generation of hydraulics and water resources.In sum, this paper has systematically studied the application of wavelet analysis in hydrology and water resources; improved the process way in practical computation; clarified that wavelet analysis was an effective way at multi-scale hydrological time analysis by use of many practical results; used wavelet transform to automatically analyze electro cardio-signals successfully, and got satisfactory results; exploited the wavelet application fields; deeply discussed the new way of random hydrology simulation which based on the wavelet analysis; attempted to combine wavelet analysis with random analysis and establish the random model of wavelet transform; creatively used wavelet-ANN model into day load predicting, and wavelet networks model into day load forecasting, further more, both of the new models have got success in practice.
