Coal is the main energy resources in China and it accounts for 76% totally. At present the annual output of raw coal in China is 1.324 billion ton. The apparent characteristics of mine production is underground operation, affected by geological conditions, geological structures and coal seam construction, and the disaster such as coal dust, methane, water, and roof collapse are liable to occur under the mining process and seriously imperil the mining safety and life of miners. As matters stand, the death rates account for one million of coal production is 100 times of the United States, 8 times of India. The existing techniques and equipment are far behind to adapt the changes of natural conditions and productive environment in coal mine. Therefore it is necessary to find new techniques to predict the natural disaster in mine. Among the safety problems of coal mines the goaf water and gas outburst are main problems. To use the probing methods for prospecting the gas-logged zone and water guided structure in advance is the difficult task for the key projects belong to the ten five-year plan of China.Electromagnetic wave penetration technique and image interpretation can be used for a visual tool to investigate the hidden safety problem and small geological structure is a hot task just like using the some light to make the coal seam can be seen clearly.As the forward position task, the author researches the electromagnetic wave prospecting techniques for predict the outburst liable coal seam for first time. Then regional prediction technique for outburst liable zone has been formed combining the electromagnetic wave penetration technique and comprehensive index method and gas-geological methods.In this paper, the author conducted the research on the sandwich model, propagation regularity of electromagnetic wave, calculation method for field strength, and put forward the special computation method for the magnetic strength in the far field.The author studied on the flame-proof frame antenna and its specifications. According to the theoretical analysis of characteristics, the author developed the flame-proof frame antenna for underground use. It has shown in the practice that its transmitting efficiency is same and over the geometric antenna, and the safety function has extremely been improved. As the result the geometric antenna had been replaced by the frame antenna.Image algorithm has been put forward and put into practice in personnel computer. Curb the error distribution by substitution method, which calculates the 6 and relative attenuation distribution in the prospecting area. On the other hand image of electromagnetic wave penetration data ends the history of distinguishing by manual work.The author put forward the selection of the convergence operator of # (r). Interpretation accuracy has been improved by combining the comprehensive curve operator and imageAbstract techniques.The author also put forward the algorithm for the filter, extreme value rectifying and anisotropy and removed the partial interfere from the measurements efficiently.Comprehensive curve pattern, attenuation coefficient and the relationship of plane position and geological abnormity had been conducted. The different curve pattern occurs in the different structure. In general -5dB attenuation for faults and the curve becomes sawtooth pattern. >-20dB attenuation for collapse structure, but the curve is funnel.According to the above results, the author developed E-type electromagnetic wave penetration system for outburst liable coal seam. In No. 10 coal mine of Pingdingshan above 50% of working area belong to non outburst zone of W 20150 and 20100 working faces. The applications for water and geological structure prospecting in Xishan, Huozhou, Yangquan, Luan, Datong, Xuzhou, Wanbei, Hualnan, Nantong, Ningxia, Handan and Kailuan mining areas had dramatically emancipated the productive force and gained the apparent social and economical benefits.
