Based on the sea wave control equations, a new wave breaking criterion is formulated,A s a consequence, a breaking wave model is proposed. in which, ζ and ζB are original and breaking wave elevation, respectively. in practice. uDS is wind draft velocity. We conclude that both the breaking wave elevation and wave breaking condition relate to wind speed.A s wind speed increases, the intensity of wave breaking becomes stronger. According to the proposed breaking wave model, the statistics of breaking waves, such as 1) breaking wave coverage per unit time, volume of wave breaking per unit time per unit area of wave surface, energy dissipation of wave breaking per unit time per unit area of wave surface, 2) whitecaps coverage, 3) breaking wave spectrum, 4) dissipation source function of breaking waves, 5) wave breaking induced vertical kinematic viscosity, are estimated as follows: 1) breaking wave coverage per unit time volume of wave breaking per unit time per unit area of wave surface energy dissipation of wave breaking per unit time per unit area of wave surface 2) whitecaps coverage 3) breaking wave spectrum 4) dissipation source function of breaking waves 5) wave breaking induced vertical kinematic viscosity in which These results are important for the study of air-sea interaction, ocean circulation modeling and sea wave modeling.
