According to the theory of sequence stratigraphy, the paper presents the identification and correlation of sequence and parasequence set of the Upper Tertiary of Jiyang Depression by using, for the first time, core, grading analysis, slice identification, heavy mineral, spore-pollen, well synthesis log, well log, seismic section, and so on, established the sequence stratigraqhic correlation framework. Then, the paper discusses the controlling factors of sequence development in alluviation-river environments, sequence modes and system tract types. Then, according to the systems analysis of core hole, the paper indicates the sedimentary system types, identification markers of different facies types, the development rule of sediment system, and the source area of the deposit and flowing direction of the river. Lastly, the paper summarizes the types of short-term base level cycle of the alluviation-river environments and its responds of well log, discusses the cause of formation of short-term base level cycle and the relationship between short-term base level cycle and parasequnece, points out the procedures for the division and correlation of the parasequences.
