Since the Jinquan Basin has new been in the late exploration and development, the reserve exploration targets are obviously insufficient and the exploration situation is extremely severe. To look for new exploration targets become an austere task based on an detailed re-investigation of structures and sedimentations. In this study, an intergraded method was applied to focus on the investigation of structures, sedimentations, reservoirs, traps and exploration targets. The following achievements and knowledge have been obtained:(1). The regional strata framework of the Jinquan Basin was re-established, and the depositional models for the sub-depressions were established. Using these models, the combination patterns of the source -reservoir-cap rocks were evaluated, which will provide a guide for the exploration of no-structure traps.(2). Based on the seismic, non- seismic and well data as well as outcrop investigation, the modeling of the front hill trust belt at the south edge in the Jiuquan Basin was perfected. The further understanding on the structural features of the front hill trust belt at south edge was achieved. The petroleum geological conditions of the Jingnan and Dahong sub-depressions were re-evaluated and it is believed that the two areas have petroleum prospective.(3) Some favorable blocks for prospecting were suggested, such as the Kuloushan structure, Qingxi deep strata, the Jinfusi hidden structure and Changsalin structure belt.(4). Through many rounds of structural interpretations, 10 traps were newly discovered with a total area of single layer traps about 149. 28km~2. This has provided a basis for further exploration. These results are of great significance for further exploration and development in the Jinquan Basin.
