In this dissertation,some basic aspects on the boundary element method of elastic and elasto—plastic problems have been studied,and then some applications of the boundary element method on elastic and elasto—plastic contact problems have been presented.The main contributions can be listed as follows:A kind of direct—error estimation of BEM in 2—D elasto—statics has been performed,and on this basis,a scheme of adaptive BEM is presented.A new integration formula for stresses inside the domain for plane elato—plastic problem has been formulated and the corresponding numerical schemes have been given.For axisymmetric elasto—plastic problems,the expression of kernel function for domain stresses formula has been well arranged,and the form presented can easily be used to the axisymmetric elasto—plastic BEM program.The computational schemes for plane and axisymmetric elastic contact problem have been improved,a kind of circular arc boundary element is adopted to be precisely modelled the originally circular arc shaped boundary,and achieved high accuracy.and with excellent results.Based on the abovementioned improved BEM scheme,both for the elasto—plastic problem and for the elastic contact problem,a kind of computational scheme for plane and axisymmetric elasto—plastic contact problem has been suggested,which gives reasonable treatment of the nonlinear features both in contact condition and material properties.In addition,the numerical schemes and the related formulae for multi—body contact and moving contact problems have been given.
