The atomic frequency standards is the product of the combination of the atomic Physics and modem Electronics.It shows great influence on the development of modern Science and Technolodgy.With the improvement of the Society,the highly stable microwave frequency standards have been required for many applications. Such as.satellite tracking and globe position,earth measuring.communications and science research and so on.Rb frequency standards takes the dominant position because of its features of small size,light-weight and low comsumption.Especially using in the space.Due to the replacement of a traditional rf-excited 87Rb lamp with a semi-conductor Laser,The Laser-pumped Rb frequency standards has one order higher short-term stability than lamp-pumped Rb frequency standards in theory.and it still keep the advantages of small size and low comsumption.So it will be the next generation space-borne frequency standards.It is of essential significance for an atomic frequency standrads to work with proper parameters.The characteristic of atomic frequency standards not only depends on the scheme of design, but also depends on the adjustment of the whole system.If the parameters are not proper,the quality of the atomic frequency standards will be greatly influenced. The main purpose of the thesis is to optimize the parameters of the frequency standards .and give some research on the laser-pumped Rb frequency standards. Firstly ,the history of the atomic frequency standards has been fully reviewed. The basic theory of the passive Rb frequency standards and the working process of the control serve-loop have also been described.By means of the theory of noise and linier model of the loop,we analyzed the influence of the components noise on the frequency stablity. Main facters that affect the short term stability were analyzed.It was shown that the short term stability was highly depended on the frequency discriminator slope of the quantum package and noise of the whole system.After optimization some parameters ,the short term stability of the Rb frequency standards isσy(τ)=42×1012/τ1/2 A new type of microwave resonator with high quality and low frequency temperature coeffitient was designed.
