Pertusariaceae is classified into Pertusariales under Ostropomycetidae, Lecanoromycetes, Ascomycota. It contains four genera Ochrolechia Massal, Pertusaria DC, Varicellaria Nyl. and Thamnochrolechia Aptroot & Sipman. The studies of Pertusariaceae from China are performed using the methods of morphology, anatomy, chemistry, geography and ecology on the basis of identification of more than 1900 specimens from 33 provinces and autonomous regions of China. Eighty-three taxa, belonging to 24 species of Ochrolechia, 45 species of Pertusaria and 1 species of Varicellaria from China, are reported in this paper. Four species new to science and 9 taxa new to China are reported: Ochrolechia pallentiisidiata sp. nov., Pertusaria qilianensis sp. nov., P. paraqilianensis sp. nov., P. wulingensis sp. nov., O. mexicana, O. oregonensis, O. alboflavescens, O. balcania, P. brachyspora, P. gibberosa, P. copiosa, P. lacericans and P. variolosa. All the specimens examined by the author are deposited in the following herbaria: HMAS-L, HKAS, CANL, W, ABL, XJU and SDNU.A taxonomic revision of some taxa of Pertusariaceae from China was made. Three taxa have been revised based on the specimens. The taxon P. elliptica is excluded from the lichen flora of china. The misidentified specimens have been also corrected. The geographical analysis of all 83 taxa reported from China shows that the following seven elements can be divided: Cosmopolitan element (6 taxa, accounting for 7.23 percent of the total species of China), Circumpolar element (28 taxa, 33.73%), East Asian-North American disjunctive element (13 taxa, 15.66%), East Asian-Oceanian disjunctive element (11 species, 13.25%), East Asian element (9 taxa, 10.84%), Himalayan element (2 species, 2.41%) and element endemic to China (14 taxa, 16.87%).The result of the analysis showed that, fisrtly, the main floristic feature of the genus Ochrolechia is temperate, but the genus Pertusaria is greatly influenced by tropical or subtropical elements; and secondly, the endemism within the flora is rich. Key to genera of Pertusariaceae and keys to species of Ochrolechia, Pertusaria and Varicellaria from China are given in the present thesis. The descriptions of 4 new taxa from China and new record to China are given and the characterized features for them are discussed as well.Thirty-two secondary metabolites are examined by color reaction test, Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC) and Microcrystal Test (MCT), of which psoromic acid and planaic acid are first reported in the lichen family Pertusariaceae of China. The morphological photos of the thallus and some ascospores are also taken and given in the paper.
