The automobile panel stamping process design is very important in both the design and manufacture of the panel dies. It provides the design and manufacture process with necessary information and is the key of the design/manufacture of the panel dies. There are many disadvantages of traditional panel dies design/manufacture, such as time-consuming, low information sharing, experience-based, difficulty of optimizing, high cost and so on. Based on the research of the rapid design/manufacture theory and methods of the automobile panel dies, the paper focuses mainly on the key techniques of panel stamping process template and develops the rapid computer-aided template-based automobile panel stamping process design system. The dissertation has seven sections, their main contents are as followings:The present studies of the panel stamping process design at home and abroad are analyzed. Key techniques and trend of development of the panel stamping process design are summarized, and the goals and contents of the project are put forward.Traditional panel dies design/manufacture method and their deficiency are analyzed in detail. The solution is put forward, and the frame of the rapid panel dies design/manufacture system is constructed. According to the characteristics of the panel stamping process design, a template-based panel stamping process design method is studied. A object-oriented stamping process template information model and rapid template-based panel stamping process design function model are built, and its rapid design process is discussed.Based on similarity principle of the panel function and its geometry-topology information, the method of building stamping process templates is studied, The constructing process of the case-based stamping process template and die-face template is explained in detail. Based on the hierarchical description of the die-face, the feature-based die-face template hierarchy structure is built.The key techniques and initialization methods of the template-based panel stamping process design are studied. The feature definition data model of the panel is defined and its feature attribute graph is given. Based on the similarity between panels computed by the match of the feature attribute graphs, a stamping process template is selected, and its initialization is obtained.The rapid design method of geometry-based panel draw dies addendum is studied. The present study and problems of addendum are analyzed and the concept of generalized addendum is presented. On the basis of analyzing cases, the model of the relationship between addendum geometric factors and product geometric data is built. Based on this model, a addendum knowledge base is built to support quantitative rapid design of addendum.Die-face optimum design technique based on formability analysis is studied. Considering the design characteristic of the die-face and based on the formability analysis, DYNAFORM is used to seek the influent regularity of design variables on the formability by changing the main structure design variables of the die-face, and the optimum value or optimum range is got.Based on UG platform and its secondary developing tool, using object-oriented development tool VC++ and relational data base SQL Server, the rapid integrated design system of template-based panel stamping process is developed.
