The copper market of China has entered into international market since China became one of WTO, and the copper industry in China will encounter a very flinty challenge. Therefore, it is a most vital and urgently solved problem for the copper industry how to make all state of the production process optimum, how to realize accordingly intelligent control and how to improve the condition of letting out fume and enhance their economy benefits and competition capability in the international market by making full use of the process information and ensuring the process parameter real time and on-line based on the work flow and equipment in existence.It is known that there are some difficulties in the studying process of copper refining, for example, process of copper refining are of some characteristics such as big inertia, big time delay, nonlinearity, time-varying and strong coupling, the measurement data of the crude copper composition from copper converter have a degree of delay for the need of work flow, on line measurement about the temperature of copper liquid is very difficult, the cost per ton cathode copper is too high, the black fume is let out in the reduction process, and it is only the functions such as monitoring and some general control that are used in the used distributed control system in copper refining process, that are not much useful for realization of optimum and intelligent control in copper refining process. But advanced process control technology including chaos theory, soft-sensing technique, artificial intelligent technology are of unique superiority in solving the mentioned problems and will be able to offer a new method for solving them.The main research task in this paper such as the soft sensing about the crude copper composition and the temperature of copper liquid, the optimum of fuel consumption in a period and intelligent control of fume temperature are completed based on the problem about advanced control system in heat preservation, oxidation and reduction process. And the research fund is obtained from Guixi Smelter, Jiangxi Copper corporation, the main achievements andinnovations of the paper are expressed as:(1) It is the first time in the world that there lie chaos and fractal characteristic andno long-term forecasting function in the time series of the crude coppercomposition from copper converter are proved successfully, moreover, a chaossoft-sensing modeling about the time series of the crude copper composition canmeet the real-time and on-line need in the operation optimum and intelligentcontrol in copper refining process by using of theory of rebuilding embeddingspace, the method of maximum Lyapunov index and of regenerating sample ontime.(2)A soft-sensing modeling of the temperature of the crude copper liquid isestablished based on the method of combining the mechanism in copper refiningand on-line proofread by using of function chain NN, which makes it be realisticthat the temperature of the crude copper liquid can be measured on line andensures that monitoring and control of temperature of the crude copper liquid arerealized successfully in copper refining process;(3)A self adapting and mutative scale chaos optimization algorithm, which isaccurate and quick, is come up with based chaos model xn+i=sin(2/;cn) with betterergodicity, therefore, optimum of fuel consumption in copper refining process andparameter tuning of single neuron PID controller based on one degree with timedelay become into reality and which is useful for operation optimum andintelligent control tactic in copper refining process.(4)The dynamic models of fiime temperature are established and the optimums offuel consumption are designed, which ensure that the process of parameterstuning and control parameters setting of single neuron PID controller are accurateand quick and which are useful for operation optimum and intelligent control andsaving energy in copper refining process.(5)the adaptive conditions of stabilization criterion of characteristic polynomialHurwitz about closed loop with time delay are extended in the world, which was aguidance when single neuron PID controller based on one degree with time delaywas being designed.Operation optimum and intelligent control system in copper refining process had been trying to be run successfully for six months. The results of statistic;datum from the field reveal that saving rate of heavy oil consumption per ton anode copper is i9-2%, and saving rate of LPG(liquefied petroleum gas) consumption per ton anode copper is 13.2%, moreover, there is not combustible CO in the combustion outgrowth of LPG and Ringelman concentration is lower than 3.The results of test datum from anode copper composition show that anode copper can accord with technics need of next working procedure, therefore, the operation optimum and intelligent control system in copper refining process ensure not only saving energy and environmental protection but also the quality of copper refining.
