It was found that the reaction consumed more aniline than nitrobenzene on a molar basis. During the reaction nitrobenzene not only was concerned with reductive-carbonylation, but also predominantly served as an oxidizing reagent as oxygen did in the reaction selenium-catalyzed oxidative carbonylation of aniline.Selenium-catalyzed reductive carbonylation of nitroarenes with CO under atmospheric pressure was accomplished and afforded symmetric 1,3-diarylureas in yields up to 94%. 2-benzoxazolones were synthesized from 2-nitrophenols in moderate to good yields at this reaction system of atmospheric pressure. An efficient catalytic synthetic system without solvent was developed for the selenium-catalyzed carbonylation of nitroarenes with CO (2.0MPa) and H2O and Et3N to afford symmetrical 1,3-diarylureas in high yields.A relatively efficient catalysis system containing elementary sulfur-ionic liquid was developed for the carbonylation of nitroaromatics and corresponding aromatic amines with carbon monoxide to give symmetric diarylureas in yields up to 96%. Additionally, unsymmetical urea N-(phenyl-N'-(piperidine) urea was...
