The tuyere of blast furnace is very important to refining ferrum in blast furnace. The manufacturing process had to be interrupted when the tuyere of blast furnace happened to be broken. This is leading to the heavy economic losses for the production enterprise. It is critically important that the materials, security and service life of the tuyere are successfully prepared. When the heated air was taken from the hot air-stove to blast furnace, the tuyere is necessary pathway. These have important practically signification that the energy-saving tuyere is successfully completed.In this paper, the craft of self-propagation high-temperature synthesis (SHS) ceramic on copper substrate was investigated in details. The properties of SHS ceramic was also investigated by means of XRD SEM EDS EPMA and thermal-shock resistance. The efficiency of the energy-saving tuyere was evaluated with using thermodynamics method. The optimum structure of the new-type energy-saving tuyere was successfully completed. The application of the new-type tuyere in the prodcution process had been successfully found for No.7, No.9, and No. 11 blast furnace.As far as aluminothermic method of reduction was concerned, the system of the reaction was supposed to thermal insulation process. The adiabatic temperature (Tad ) of SHS was worked out through thermodynamics calculation. When the activator is CrO3, the adiabatic temperature is Tad =2167.98K . For the activator Cr2O3, the adiabatic temperature is Tad =1937.83K. Both of the adiabatic temperature are higher than 1800K. According to the experience criterion of Merzhanov etc., the reaction of SHS can maintain by itself.The compound ceramic coating on copper substrate was gained with using the different methods. One was the ceramic coating in situ copper substrate by means of SHS. The other was that the ceramic coating on the Ni-plated copper was obtained by means of SHS.The properties of SHS ceramic had been investigated by means of XRD SEM EDS EPMA and thermal-shock resistance.
