In this paper, the state of key stratum in the condition of large cutting height working face is studied with mechanics analyse. The mechanical model of large cutting height working face is built based on key stratum theory and boundary condition of powered support in large cutting height working face is definituded. With damage mechanics, elasticity mechanics, similitude simulation experiment, the mechanism of front coal body micromechanism of damage and coal wall rib fall are studied. The effect action of coal rib fall is analyzed. The state of coal wall rib fall is educed adapt to different cutting height. The stratum moving law and loading character on canopy of powered support in the different state of load are studied in similitude simulation experiment. Adopt numerical analysis method, the effect on mechanical state of strata in large cutting height working face by cutting height, key stratum position, coal seam rigidity and support action are analyzed. At last, the confirm method of support intensity in working face is advanced. The formula of required support intensity and support area on coal wall is put forward.
