The presence of many human-derived or naturally occurring toxic organic compounds in drinking water has become a major national and international concern. The presence of many organic compounds in a few parts per billion is enough to render a water supply unpotable for reasons of longterm health risk, even though the water may have no discernible taste and odor. Water contamination has become a great environmental problem, which will be solved in urgent need, because it wastes natural resources and destroies ecological balance. Ultrasound, which serves as a mechanical wave energy source of high-frequency vibration, interacts with matter in micro-field. In especial high sound intensity, ultrasound, in water, causes motion of cavitation bubble and violent collapse of bubble. The% implosion of cavities produces extreme physical conditions, such as local high temperature > pressure ^ sonoluminescence> discharge > shockN streaming in the liquid. These conditions enable chemical reaction, which hardly react in normal conditions, to realize. The local position serves as a "micro-reactor". In this reactor, the implosion of cavities produces a novel place for chemical reaction. Recently, the application of sonochemistry has become a new branch of treatment organic contaminants. In the paper, according to synthetic analysis for the vast majority of literatures, the sonochemical reactor made by myself is used for the decomposition treatment of priority pollutants with different physical-chemistry property, such as TCE> CB> PCP and their mixtures. Natural black liquor of making paper is also investigated by ultrasound. The main original results show that:ONE: Two sonochemical reactors (500 kHz and 800 kHz) are made by myself. The relatively systemic wave shape measurements and frequency spectrum analysis of the sound field in water for two reactors at different electric power (1.25 - 100 W) are carried out with wide-band microhydrophone. The results show that the conditions of sound field in two reactors from linearity (small amplitude) to nonlinearity (limited amplitude - chaos - cavitation) can be produced. They provide basis for experimental...
