Since Wilkinson discovered the complex RhCl(PPh3)3, homogeneous catalytic hydrogenation has begun to attracted great attention. When Knowls first developed homogeneous chiral catalyst and applied it in asymmetric synthesis in industrial scale successfully, the research homogeneous catalytic hydrogenation have been led to a new high stage. Homogeneous catalytic hydrogenation is not only of important in producing a large number of fine chemicals, but also very helpful for study on catalysis and mechanism of hydrogenation reactions, due to the structures of homogeneous catalysts are usually much more simple and defined than those of heterogeneous catalysts. It provides elementary knowledge and principles for understanding catalysis phenomena. Two sorts of catalytic hydrogenation of organic compounds may be distinguished: one is hydrogenation of unsaturated organic compounds containing C=C, C=O and C=N double bond; the other is hydrogenolysis of saturated organic compounds containing C-X bond(X= halogen, N. S etc.). The hydrogenation of unsaturated organic compounds has more types and numbers than the later. Therefore industrialist and scientist have been paying great interesting in study and application of its hydrogenation. The strategy of this work is that some unsaturated organic compounds containing C=C. C=N and C=O double bond are chosen as substrates of hydrogenation, study on the laws in the catalytic hydrogenation of these unsaturated organic compounds, and then try to find out the principles and mechanisms of selective catalytic hydrogenation. Because homogeneous catalyst is the key to homogeneous hydrogenation. and homogeneous catalysts are usually transition metal complexes, which consists of central metals and ligands. This work at first studied on the laws about the effects of possible metals in VIII group elements and ligands. then investigated and discussed the essence of catalytic hydrogenation in various catalytic svstems. This work has two sections: First section is homogeneous selective catalvtic...
