The hot strip are widely used in modern industries, such as metallurgical, machine, chemical, building, etc. The production temperature of hot rolled plate, especially the thin plate and silicon plate are controlled accurately. Too low finish rolling temperature may lead to some production quality problems, such as plate edge crack and magnetic fault, and equipment failure such as damage of roll table and electric engine tripping. So the research on the temperature control methods of hot rolled intermediate slab are important to the improvement of production quality and the reduction of maintenance cost of equipment.In this paper, the heat transfer principle and finite element technique are used. the total reflection heat preservation covers(TRHPC) that are used to hot roller intermediate slab thermal retardation on the finishing mill run-in table and its feasibility and availability are researched. The temperature field of roller and its bearing that is influenced by TRHPC are researched too. The solution methods to assure the roller's normal working when the working temperature arise are suggested.The main research works can be summed up as following:1) Excessive head and end temperature difference of hot roller intermediate slab , previous temperature drop and the lower side temperature will lead to production quality fault, rising of ejection ration and higher equipment failure. In order to solute this problem, a programme that install a total reflection heat preservation covers(TPHPC) is proposed.2) The temperature field mathematical analysis model of a hot roller intermediate slab that are produced in two kinds of working environment are build. the model shows that the main radiating ways are convection and heat radiation. This provide the theoretical basis to the finite element analysis of hot roller intermediate slab temperature field.3) According to the temperature field mathematical analysis model of a hot roller intermediate slab, the finite element analysis models of hot roller intermediate slab with two different material and two kinds of work conditions are build and simulated. The simulation results that are consistent with the experiments shows that the every part's temperature of hot roller intermediate slab increased significantly and the insulation effect to intermediate slab's corner and side are fine. The equipment are benefit to the reduction of temperature different of hot roller intermediate slab, increasing of rolling temperature and prevention of edge crack of intermediate slab.4) According to the simulation results, the construction of TPHPC is designed. In order to increase the radiance of TPHPC's inwall, the inwall of TPHPC are sprayed by high radiating ceramic reflective coating. With the usage of TPHPC, the product quality and percent of pass are increased and the energy cost and equipment failure rate are reduced.5) With 2D finite element technology, the contact heat transfer between rolling element and bearing's inner and outer race are translated into the heat transference between the cylinders and the equivalent coefficient of heat transmission of rolling element are deduced. On the basis of research, the global temperature field finite element analysis model are build and the temperature distribution of roller, roller's bearing, bearing block and bearing cover are got. The simulation results are consistent with the experiments' results.6) In order to increase the roller's bearing calculation precision, a sub-model of bearing part is build and the temperature change trend is got. The calculation model and suggestion value of the working water jet capacity of roller's neck are proposed. With these methods, the roller's bearing temperature can be controlled and the ratio of bearing fault can be reduced.
