There are many key problems needs further investigation for large section roadway excavation, such as low speed of roadway digging, high supporting cost, poor effect, continuity and security of working are difficult to guarantee and so on. The lack of safe and effective bolt and cable drilling and installing equipment was the main restriction for quickly digging of large section roadway. This dissertation mainly focuses on the researching for the support mechanism and matching equipment developing of high speed digging technology for Large Section Roadway. According to the economical, safe and effective principles, the integrative carrying supporting mechanism of bolt and cable for large section have been researched by the method of theory calculation, FLAC3D numerical simulation, large dimension similar simulation, in-situ investigation etc., and gained surrounding rock stress and strain distribution, plastic area range, deformation and damaging rule of large section coal roadway in the course of digging and mining. The computer software for roadway design is coded. Self-researched new drilling and installing equipment represented by new bolt and cable machine, i.e., roof bolter, gained more than 20 patents authorised by state. The supporting technology and equipment have applied successfully in Jincheng coal corporation group's Sihe, Zhaozhuang, Chengzhuang, Gushuyuan, Quti Mines and Changping corporation's Wangtai Mine, which improved digging velocity, low the cost, achieve the working safety, and the notable economy and society benefits. The research achievements offered scientific reference for the scheme designing, parameter optimizing, material choosing, and the new set equipments and craftwork for large section coal roadway.
