With advantages of high efficiency, real time, low volume and automation, capillary electrophoresis separation techniques have been widely used in industrial analysis, biomedicine, Molecule biology etc. With the pretence of lab on the chip and the development of micro total analysis system, electrophoresis chip, capillary electrophoresis technology on a chip, became the research hot of micro electromechanical system. The paper belongs to the international project. Based on the knowledge of capillary electrophoresis technology, the separation and control models of low voltage electrophoresis system using moving grade electrical field have been presented. At the same time, the developments of electrophoresis chip and control circuit have been studied, which will lay theory and technique foundation for the further study on the low voltage electrophoresis chip. This paper focused on the following aspects:: ① Based on the reading of much conference and book, the development trend of analytical instrument is given. The developments of micro total analytical system and electrophoresis chip have been described. ②The relative theory of capillary electrophoresis has been studied. The low voltage separation models with moving grade electrical field and high voltage separation model have been discussed. The theory model of electrophoresis analytical system using moving grade electrical field and the relative control process are put forward. ③According to the model of low voltage electrophoresis chip , the injection, separation, detection and control of electrophoresis chip have been discussed in detail. The schematic of low voltage electrophoresis chip is presented and the computer program is developed to simulate the separation process to optimize the micro system.④Research on the fabrication of low voltage micro electrophoresis chip has been done. The technology design, layout design and fabrication experiments have been finished. The results of the experimental are discussed. ⑤ The control circuit has been developed and experiments are carried out. Based on the analysis of experimental results, the problems are put forward for further study.
