With the development of sustainability theory, Building Environmental Performance (BEP) is attracting more and more attention. After a detailed review of present assessment systems of BEP, this paper applies Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Integrated Building Design (D3D) in the research of modeling, assessment and optimization of BEP systematically: calculated building life-cycle energy consumption for different kinds of energy; analyzed the impact of building environmental influences based on current technology and society situation; performed an expert questionnaire investigation about the importance of different building environmental influencing factors; proposed a new method of BEP quantification based on a general basic environmental influencing unit; brought forward an assessment system according the local development level of technology; defined a quantificational concept of green building and drawn out the quantitative benchmark of green building; employed Adaptively Genetic Arithmetic (AGA) in the optimization process of BEP; set a life-cycle database framework about building materials, elements and energy based on the latest statistic data of China; developed an antitype software for modeling, assessment and optimization of BEP successfully. Finally, some examples are given out to illustrate the effectiveness and rationality of the research in this paper.The modeling; of BEP should be based on the simulation of energy consumption of building life-cycle. Due to different kinds of energy resources bring different environment influences during its production and utilization, this paper calculates energy consumption by matrix to consider the different phase of the energy producing and consumption. Considering that impacts of building environment influences are discrepant greatly and should be taken into account in the modeling of BEP, this paper proposed a new method, which defines the weights of various environment impacts basing on experts questionnaire and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, calculates equivalence of various influences basing on the global and national emission gross of different pollutants and the weights calculated, and unifies all the influencing factors to a general basic environmental influencing unit, "black point", which expresses the environmental performance of building directly and precisely and makes the integration of BEP smoothly.The assessment is the link between modeling and optimization, and is a key in theimplementation of green building. As assessments should be carried out in a certain range and on certain basis, this paper improved an assessment method which is based on actual development level of building technology, and defined an objective concept of Environment Index (EI), which can express the comparative performance of BEP. With the help of EI, the concept of green building is interpreted quantitatively in this paper. Finally, according the theory of statistics, the distribution of EI is configured out distinctly by an example, then, the benchmark of green building is determined objectively and exactly.The ultimate aim of BEP modeling and assessment is to improve BEP. After a thorough analysis on the characteristics of BEP, this paper pointed out that the optimization of BEP belongs to Combiination Optimization, and put forward a method, which utilize AGA in the process of BEP optimization, and implemented it successfully. Secondly, the effect of this optimization method is testified by an example. Additionally, this paper set up a life-cycle database framework based on the present statistic data of China, configured a brief model of BEP modeling, assessment and optimization, drawn out the flow chart of software, and developed the antitype software with Visual C++ programming language. Finally, with the help of this software, the BEPs of an office building, several common heating/cooling systems and building elements are analyzed.The research of this paper will give a necessary guidance for BEP improvement, and do great help in green building implementation a...
