Waxy corn from China, Zea mays L. Ceratina Kulesh, is a subspecies of Z. mays. Waxy corn has differences in traits such as height of plant, color of seed, yield, resistance, attribute and so on because of the variation in hundreds of years. Waxy corn is the precious maize germ plasm. Waxy corn possess characters of sweet taste, wax and fragrance and beyond of normal maize. With the development of peoples' living standard and the understanding to the nutrition of waxy corn, it is predicted that the products made of waxy corn join in the rich recipes with the distinctive taste. The genetic diversity of waxy corns is of theoretical and practical importance for the genetic and breeding studies of waxy corn Using SSR markers, the genetic diversity 45 waxy corn germplasms from Yunnan(15) and Guizhou(30) was studied. The results were obtained as follows:1. Sixty-four of ninety-three maize nucleus DNA SSR primers amplified polymorphism bands. The percent of polymorphism SSR primers was 68.82%. Polymorphism SSR primers searched three hundred and eighty two alleles. The average allele number of each polymorphism SSR primer was 5.97. Twelve of seventeen pine chloroplast DNA SSR primers amplified polymorphism bands. The percent of polymorphism SSR primers was 70.60%. Twelve polymorphism SSR primers searched sixty-eight alleles. The average allele number of each polymorphism SSR primer was 5.67.2. The intra-population's genetic diversity index calculated from polymorphism alleles of waxy corns from Yunnan and Guizhou changes from 0.085 l(SILUNUO) to 0.7053(HONGNUOYUMI). The different intra-population's genetic diversity exists in waxy corns. 43.26% genetic diversity distributes in intra-population and 56.74% in inter-population. The inter-population's genetic diversity is more than the intra-population's.3. The average inter-population's genetic diversity index of waxy corns form Yunnan calculated from polymorphism alleles respectively amplified using 64 maize nucleus DNA SSR primers and 12 pine chloroplast DNA SSR primers is 1.1447 and 1.2605. The average inter-population's genetic diversity index of waxy corns form Guizhou calculated from polymorphism alleles respectively amplified using 64 maize nucleus DNA SSR primers and12 pine chloroplast DNA SSR primers is 1.2472 and 1.3722.The inter-population's genetic diversity of waxy corns from Guizhou is richer than that from Yunnan. The genetic diversity revealed by 46.17% genetic diversity revealed by 64 maize nucleus DNA SSR distributes in intra-population and 53.83% in inter-population. 45.77% genetic diversity revealed by pine chloroplast DNA SSR distributes in intra-population and 54.23% in inter-population. The genetic diversity of waxy corns from different producing area is equal to that of different waxy corns from same producing area.4. The genetic similarity between Zea mays L ceratyna kulesh is higher. The genetic similarity indexes between 15 waxy corns from Yunnan revealed by maize nucleus DNA SSR change from 0.52 to 0.73 and the average genetic similarity index is 0.610+0.040. The genetic similarity indexes between 30 waxy corns from Guizhou change from 0.48 to 0.75 and the average genetic similarity is 0.611 +0.041. The genetic similarity indexes between 15 waxy corns from Yunnan and 30 waxy corns from Guizhou change from 0.50 to 0.71 and the average genetic similarity index is 0.610+0.036However, the genetic similarity indexes between 15 waxy corns from Yunnan revealed by pine chloroplast DNA SSR change from 0.47 to 0.79 and the average genetic similarity index is 0.625+0.064. The genetic similarity index between 30 waxy corns from Guizhou changes from 0.43 to 0.84 and the average genetic similarity index is 0.622+0.069. The genetic similarity indexes between 15 waxy corns from Yunnan and 30 waxy corns from Guizhou revealed by pine chloroplast DNA SSR change from 0.45 to 0.84 and the average genetic similarity index is 0.628+0.067.5. The genetic similarity between Zea mays L. ceratyna kulesh and general...
