Thirty piglets (Large WhitexLandracexBen) weaned at the 14? days of age, with average initial body weight of 3.78 Kg and off-site segregated, were divided into five treatments randomly. During the 14-28 days, growth regulation of SEW piglets was conducted with glutamine and bovine colostrum, and supplementation of dietary glutamine was 0.0%, 0.3%, 0.9% and 1.5% for four treatments of C, G,, G2, and G3l respectively. One treatment was assigned to bovine colostrum including 60%(2d, IgG 34. 77mg/ml). Thirty-two (Large WhitexLandracexBen) piglets of early weanling (EW) at the 35 days of age were also used as control group. Nitrogen trial was conducted for six days from 23 to 28 days. At the end of 70 days of age, The objective to conduct this experiment was to investigate growth performance and economic profits between SEW and EW piglets. Meanwhile, thirty (Large WhitexLandracexBen) piglets weaned at the 14 + 2 days of age were used to investigate the mechanism of nutritional physiology of healthy growth in SEW piglets and expression of Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) of various tissues. The objective of the experiments was to investigate growth performance between SEW and EW piglets, and to determine the histological morphology of small intestine, plasma glutamine, serum urea nitrogen, GSH of liver and serum, ceruloplasmin and albumin. The concentrations of serum growth hormone, IGF-I, IL-1, IL-6, TNF- and IgG were determined with radioimmunoassay, and C-reactive protein with immunoradiometric assay, and expression of HSP70 of liver, longissimus dorsi muscle and jejunal mucosin was also investigated. The experiments stressed on growth performance, economic profits between SEW and EW piglets. It was suggested that technology of SEW taking the place of specific pathogen free (SPF)can be usedto produce breeding stock. Supplementation of adequate glutamine was determined during 14-28 days of age. The mechanism of nutrtional physiology growth in SEW piglets was investigated with glutamine and bovine colostrum. Expressions of HSP70 of various tissues between SEW and EW piglets, and biological indices including C-reactive protein, acute phase index and expression of HSP70 were also investigated for the health status of SEW piglets. The results showed as follows:1. Off-site segregation and supplementation of dietary glutamine with 0.9-1.5% or 60% bovine colostrum, at 14-28 days of age, significantly improved growth performance of SEW piglets (p<0. 01). At 60 or 70 days of age, body weight of EW piglets was 16.16Kg and 20. 60Kg, respectively. Body weight of G2, G3 and N group was 22. 08 Kg, 21. 38 Kg and 21. 60 Kg at 60 days, and 30. 20 Kg, 30. 08 Kg, 30. 02 Kg at 70 days, respectively. At 60 day of age, compared with the body weight of EW piglets, off-site SEW piglets increased the body weight by 7.0% and 12.0% at 60 or 70 days of age, respectively. Based on off-site segregation, and supplementation with 0. 9 - 1.5% glutamine or 60% bovine colostrum increased the body weight by 20-28% at 60 days and 30% at 70 days, respectively. Technology of off-site segregation and nutrtional regulation of glutamine or bovine colostrum and efficient feeding got better economic profits for SEW piglets.2. At 14-28 days of age, the relationship between daily feed intake, F/G and diarrhoea of SEW piglets and supplemental dietary glutamine can be described in quadric functions (p<0.05 or p<0.01). The result also indicated that the relationship between nitrogen balance and nitrogen intake could be described in quadric function for nitrogen balance response equation. When nitrogen intake was 11.73 g N/d, namely 71.58 g/d of dietary crude protein, the nitrogen retention of SEW piglets arrived at maximum. In summary, based on growth performance of SEW piglets and the results of quadric equations, the supplemental adequate glutamine was 1.2% for SEW piglets during 14-28 days.3. Off-site segregataion early weanling and supplemental glutamine or bovinecolostrum significantly improved the integrity and function in small intestine, villus l...
