Based on literature summarizing, this study brings forward the hypothesis of "dynamic aging" for the first time, and probes into the mechanism of aging in theory and in experiment. Objective: To further clarify the mechanism of aging, and expecting to find new channel of retarding aging. Methods: In theory, after reviewing most of the main doctrines of aging and synthesizing the relationship among them, this study considers that these theories clarified part of aging mechanism only for some segment of age or for some side. This study also further probes into the causes and tendency of deficiency of yin, and whose relation to aging. In experiment, this study measures interlukin-2(IL-2), interlukin-4(IL-4), interlukin-6(IL-6) of rats with radioimmusoassay (RIA), synthesizes the changes of them for different age segments and the effects of different prescriptions. Results: There are significantly different of IL-2, IL-4, IL-6 for different age segments. Zuo Gui Yin which has the function of tonifying yin can regulate them better, and consequently retards aging. But for the late aged rats, its effect is not as good as the prescription tonifying both yin and yang. Conclusion: Aging is a dynamic process. The aging mechanisms differ for different age segments, and we should use different ways to retard aging according to different age segments. Deficiency of yin exists in the whole process of aging. Retarding aging should begin with the prophase of aged and tonifying yin is the most suitable method for this period.
