| Background and purpose.The effect of XingNaoKaiQiao (XNKQ) acupuncture method has been confirmed by many clinical and experimental researches to treat stroke. As stroke is a cerebrovascular disease with complicated pathogenic factors and varied conditions, the study of stroke should be further analyzed in detail, the effect of acupuncture should be made an overall analysis in different serious degrees, different courses of disease and treatment, different complications, different affected sides, and different syndromes of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and et al.Methods:The study was retrospective, and the patients were originated from in-patients of 1st affiliated hospital in 2001. The serious degree of patients' condition, disability degree, and therapeutic effect were based on accepted criteria. We compared the effects of stroke and stroke with complications from three serious degrees, and observed acupuncture effect from different courses of disease and treatment. We also observed the difference between stroke complicated hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes and stroke without complications separately, and the difference between high and normal blood pressure, high and normal blood sugar, existing and without cerebro-cardiac syndrome respectively, and compared the two difference correspondingly. Moreover, we compared and analyzed the clinical syndromes and laboratory results from stroke affected sides (left side, right side, and both side), and syndromes of TCM (meridian syndromes, viscera and bowel syndromes).Results:1.XNKQ acupuncture method had different effects to treat different seriousdegrees stroke, the effective rate of mild type was 99.7%, moderate type was 98.0%, and severe type was 89.2%. The effect of XNKQ acupuncture method to treat stroke with complications of hypertension, coronary heart disease, and diabetes was decreased along with patients' condition becoming more serious. The effective rate of stroke with hypertension was 97.7%, the stroke with coronary heart disease was96.7%, the stroke with diabetes was98.2%.2.XNKQ acupuncture method treating different courses of stroke, acute stage was better than convalescent period, and convalescent period better than sequela stage. The clinical cure rate was highest in the 1st treating course. Along with the treating course prolonged, the clinical cure rate was decreased, but effective rate was increased. The effect of different treating courses had intimate relation with patient's serious degree.3.Whether or not the patients complicated with hypertension and coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, and cerebro-cardiac syndrome , they all had no obviously influence on the patients' serious degree and acupuncture effect, but other conditions were different between hypertension and blood pressure level, coronary heart disease and cerebro-cardiac syndrome. Moreover, stroke with diabetes didn't affect serious degree and acupuncture effect directly, but the blood sugar level affected them.4.The stroke insury side affected patients' condition and acupuncture effect. In total patients, left side stroke patients were more serious than right side and both sides, the both sides stroke patients were the most light cases; the acupuncture effect was best in both sides stroke patients, and right side patients was in moderate effect, left side patients was the most poor .5.Acupuncture effect in type of meridian syndrome was better than that of viscera and bowel syndrome, there existed significant difference in the aspects of risk factors, age, pathologic location, focus range, stroke affected side, clinical sign and liboratory results, symptom scoring, serious degree, disablity degree and acupuncture effect.Conclusion:The effect of acupuncture method was decreased along with patients' condition becoming more serious to treat stroke and stroke with complications, and more shorter of the course, more better of the effect; more milder of the patient's condition, and more shorter of th...
