Part 1 Induction of hepatocyte growth factor in rat brainafter focal cerebral ischemiaObjective: To study the induction of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) in rat brain after focal cerebral ischemia.Methods: Rats were divided into 1h, 3h, 12h, 24h groups according to ischemic time. The ischemic model was established with the method of embolizing with thread. Expressings of HGF in the ischemic penumbra region were observed with the method of RT-PCRResults: At 1h after focal cerebral ischemia neurons in the ischemic penumbra region slightly expressed HGF and the express continued to increase until 24h.Conclusion: HGF is one kind of blood vessel growth factors and nerve growth factors. The high expressions of HGF of ischemic penumbra region in rat brain might play an important role in the protection and repair of the damaged tissue induced by focal cerebral ischemia.Part 2 The changes of hepatocyte growth factor and S-100 proteinin patients with acute cerebral infarctionObjective: HGF is a pleiotropia growth factor. S-100 protein is a marker of neuroglia cell damage. The changes of serum HGF and S-100 protein levels in patients with acute cerebral infarction(ACI) and transient ischemic attack( TIA) and the relationship to the clinical characters were studied.Methods: Circulation HGF and S-100 protein levels were measured in 32 patients with ACI on admission to hospital and on days 3 , 7 and 14 after the onset of symptoms use enzyme-liked immunosorbent assay.
