B lymphocyte is the primary immunocompetent cell. After stimulated with antigen and other stimuli, B cells undergo activation, proliferation and differentiation and then play multi-function in immune responses, meanwhile, the expressions of some surface antigens and activation genes are also altered during those processes. Surface antigen and activation gene play a very important role in the development of B cells, but only a few of them were identified until now. Comprehensive studies on surface antigen and activation gene can not only contribute to the understanding of molecular basis of normal B cell growth and development, but also will help elucidate pathogenesis of B cell- derived immune disorders such as immunodeficiencies, autoimmune diseases and lymphoma.
