Background and objective:proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy is a new technology that could measure change of metabolin without injury in vivo under different conditions. When pathological changes take place in central nervous system, because ~1H-MRS could provide a variety of message including neuronal integrality , energy metabolism, change of chemical materials in brain tissue and so on, ~1H-MRS is paid attention more and more. Presently ~1H-MRS has bieng utilized in checking pathophysical change and status of metabolism during period of cerebral infarction. ~1H-MRS could provide more valuable message in evaluating therapeutic effect and predicting prognosis for cerebral infarction through measuring change of peak of N-acetyl-aspartate, creatine, choline containing compounds and lactate etc that could reflect neuronal injury, repair, hyperplasia of gliocyte and energy metabolism in cerebral infarction and intervened brain tissue. Clinically further study about change of metabolin in brain and it's correlation with clinic after cerebral infarction in different period is scarceful.To most extent scale is applied clinically when effect of nerves protecter wich could interven important pathophysiological link of cerebral infarction is evaluated at present such as National Institutes of Health stroke scale, Motor assessment scale, Activities of daily living, Barthel Index and so on. To assess neurologic impairment degree with scale lack objectivity, many therapeutic measure(without medical evidence)were applied in long term because of subjective influence, which waste medical resource and delay opportunity to treat disease. Therefore it need be solved critically to find objective and effective assessment means.
