[Objective] 1.To study the effect of antihypertensive medications (Fosinopril, Nitrendipine and Metoprolol) on the secretion of inter-cellular adhesive molecular 1 (ICAM-1) and metalloproteinase-9(MMP9) of Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVECs) stimulated by oxidative lipoprotein or oscillatory flow, and explore the mechanism of vascular protective mechanism of the antihypertensive medicine. 2. To explore whether inflammation was the nature of the relationship between the carotid atherosclerosis and the coronary artery atherosclerosis. 3. To investigate whether there was any difference among the antihypertensive drugs of Fosinopril, Nitrendipine and Metoprolol on the vascular protection besides anti-hypertension.[Method] 1. Cultured HUEVCs were incubated with ox-LDL (20 ug/ml )without or with different concentration of Fosinopril or Metoprol (1×l0-7mol/L, 5×10-7mol/L, 1×l0-6mol/L, 5×l0-6mol/L, 1×l0-5mol/L, 5×l0-5mol/L, 1×l0-4mol/L, 5×10-4mol/L, 1×10-3mol/L, 5×l0-3mol/L) for 12 or 24 hours. The levels of ICAM-1 and MMP9 were determined by ELISA. 2. Cultured HUEVCs were incubated in laminar or oscillatory flow condition without or with different concentration of Fosinopril or Metoprol (1×l0-7mol/L, 5×l0-7mol/L, 1×10-6mol/L, 5×l0-6mol/L, 1×l0-5mol/L, 5×l0-5mol/L, 1×10-4mol/L, 5×10-4mol/L, 1×10-3mol/L, 5×10-3mol/L) for 12 or 24 hours.
