Expanding study about precise localization of intrahepatic minimal lesion by modern medical imaging, the resection of hepatic lobes, hepatic segments and subsegments and transplantation of hemi-liver, hepatic segments and partial liver in modern liver surgery proposed a higher request in the divisions of the hepatic lobes, hepatic segments, and subsegments. So the anatomy of hepatic segments has become the focus of the clinical radiologists and surgeons. In these years, the most common accepted classification method of hepatic segments is Couinaud's segmental anatomy. But the classification method of Couinaud's segment does not match very well with the actual distribution of the intrahepatic vessels in some parts because of individual differences and cross distribution of the ducts in the liver, especially it does not satisfy the precise allocation of intrahepatic minimal lesion in medical imaging and the demands of hepatic surgery to resect the hepatic subsegments and to perform partial transplantation. The recently research indicating: â‘  The hepatic veins may be not the precise indicator of the classification of hepatic segments; â‘¡ There are many branching types in the right anterior and right posterior branches of hepatic portal vein; â‘¢The hepatic fissures may be curved like the waves or even the canine teeth overlapping. These researching results, which is much more different from the traditional description of Couinauld's segment. So there are many disputes about the hepatic segmental anatomy in the clinical practice of hepatic surgery. To clarify the above disputes, it is essential to recognize newly the Chinese hepatic segment. The early hepatic segmental anatomic research always use casting mold specimen and peeled off specimen. Because of breaking away the proper position of liver, it is not exact to name the hepatic segment hard to avoid, and not to contrast with sectional images directly. To study the course and distribution rule of...
