BackgroundDrug resistance for acute leukemia cells is the most reason for the fail of chemotherapy and relapse in AL disease. According to spectrum of AL cell for different drugs,drug resistance could be differ into primary durg resistance ( PDR) and multidrug resistance (MDR). MDR is popular in AL, it has two style: one is that at the first stage, the leukemia cells are resistance for kinds of drugs, which named inter-drug resistance or primary drug resistance. The other is that the AL cells are sensitive to the drug, but after courses of chemotherapeutic treatment, cells are resistance for the drugs.so is the acquired drug resitance. Since the first time MDR was discovered, people have known that MDR is the result of different factors which contribute in different mechanisms.ABC ( ATP Binding Cassette) membrance bearer protein is involved in MDR. Membrance bearer protein include P-glycoprotein ( P-gp) multidrug resistance relative protein (MRP ),lung resistance protein ( LRP),breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP),and so on.They belonged to ABC transport protein superfamily except LRP. P-gp is the most representative one of them. It works as a excrete pump in cell membrane.
