OBJECTIVESTo study the morphology and dimension and relation of the internal branch of the superior laryngeal nerve(ISLN) and superior laryngeal artery(SLA) for further study of laryngeal reconstruction. The aim of this study was to collect exact and reliable morph metric data of the human ISLN and SLA.MATERIALS AND METHODSThirty adult cadavers were examined for the present study. The subjects were 27 male and 3 female adult cadavers. This study was carried out in 2004 at the Faculty of Medicine Sichuan University of China. The cadavers were dissected under magnification along anatomic planes from the skin down to the vertebral column. The anterior neck was exposed by a midline incision and extended laterally along the angle of mandible superiorly, and on the clavicle inferiorly. After the visualization of the laryngeal prominence of the thyroid cartilage, the strap muscles were resected and the superior laryngeal artery was exposed under an operating microscope (original magnification 7~30). After the major branches exiting from the superior laryngeal artery and internal superior laryngeal nerve had been identified, a micro scissors, a...
