In the last decade, continued research is likely to allow wider application of hematopoietic stem cell transplantations(HSCT) and even more source of stem cells.Umbilical cord blood (UCB) is being explored as an alternative source of hematopoietic stem cells.Recently,HSCT have been successfully performed in patients with hematologic malignancies , solid tumors and other non-malignant diseases such as hereditary diseases and immunopathy. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the main type of primary liver cancer, is one of the most common solid cancers in china. With high malignancy and poor survival, it is the second major cause of cancer-related mortality. Over the years it became apparent that none of the available anti-cancer modalities or even combinations therapy of operation, chemotherapy and radiotherapy could cure HCC, Considering lack of specific treatment modalities against HCC, and the high recurrence rate of surgical resection,a new available anti-cancer modality, immunotherapy, is becoming a very hopeful strategy. Cumulative data shows that the gorwth ,recurrence and metastasis of HCC are not only associated with the biological characteristics of tumor cells but...
