Cavernous hemangioma is the most common vascular malformation of infancy, and they often present on face and lead to severe disfigurement. Although the formation of hemangioma is related to the increased angiogenesis, but the underlying pathogenesis mechanisms remain unclear. So far, there are not uniformly effective drugs and methods for hemangioma treatment. Therefore, it has very important significance to investigate the phenotypic and functional characteristics of vascular endothelial cells derived from hemangioma and to establish an animal model of hemangioma for understanding the pathogenesis of hemangioma and selecting effective drugs for clinical treatment. Objective To investigate the differences between cavernous hemangioma endothelial cells and normal endothelial cells in structure, phenotype, function and gene. To establish an animal model of human hemangioma, and to select effective drugs using this animal model.Methods Endothelial cells were isolated and purified from human cavernous hemangioma and identified by immunofluorescence and flowcytometry for classical endothelial cell markers. The cellular ultrastructure was checked by transmission electron microscope. The phenotypic analysis was performed by flowcytometry and immunocytochemistry. The formation of capillary-like structure was observed after plating endothelial cells onto Matrigel.
