High Level Expression Of Neisseria Gonorrhoeae Surface Protein A In E.coli And The Primary Study On The Function Of The Expressed Protein

Objective: Gonorrhea is the most common sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and ranks first in China. There is an upward trend in the incidence of gonorrhoea these years, and the gonococcal infection would also increase the susceptibility of HIV. Basically, treatment with antibiotics is the main choice to gonorrhea at present. It can shorten the durative time of gonococcal infection and decrease its disseminating. But with the abuse of antibiotic, the number of N. gonorrhoeae antibiotic-resistant strains significantly increased and more and more new antibiotic-resistant strains emerged. This has leaded the strategy into a crisis. It is urgent to find new preventive and therapeutic methods. Vaccination becomes the preferred strategy. So far, there is no effectively vaccine available for Gonorrhea prevention presently. The latest research on NspA reported that the protein is highly conserved across Neisseria strains which are higher than other vaccine candidates such as PI protein. It is exposed at the surface of intact gonococcal cells and express continuously. The antibodies to NspA are known to exhibit bactericidal and protective prosperities.
