| For the reasons of low surface energy, chemical inertness, surface contamination and weak boundary layer, the surface of polymer needs to be modified. Immersed in saliva, residual monomer, plasticizers in soft liner and autopolymerizing acrylic resin, may leach out over extended periods, while water is absorbed. Leaching may cause an allergic response of the oral mucosa and decrease percent elongation. Water sorption may lead to the dimensional change of the material. It is quite necessary to make the researches on the surface modification of acrylic polymers in order to improve the chemical and physical properties, as well as enhancing the biocompatibility. There are five parts in this study. Part 1 XPS studies of acrylic polymer. Part 2 Efficacy of plasma treatment time. Part 3 Aging of modified surface. Part 4 modification of O2 - plasma on tensile bond strength of Soft Reverse. Part 5 Water sorption and solubility of Soft Reverse and... |
