Traumatic brain edema (TBE) is a main secondary pathological Changes following head injury and its severe degree direct effects the transformation for the condition of an injury. There are many factors effected TBE, but the action of neuropeptide is one of the important factors and also is significative research problem in neurosurgery. The atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), angiotonsin â…¡ (Angâ…¡) and arginine vasopressin (AVP) all belong to an important peptides regulated hydro-natrium metabolism in human body. They have all a great action as to occurrence and development of the brain edema and adjustment blood- brain -barrier (BBB) function. In this paper, we researched the changes of ANP, Ang ? in plasma, cerbral tissues and CSF and they related with secondary brain lesion following head injury. At the corresponding period, we approached the effection of ANP to TBE, BBB permeability and ICP. Using the model of brain injury by free- fall in 190 rats and acute severe craniocerebral injury in 29 patients were studied for above-mentioned respectively. These results were obtained to the following points;I. Using the method of radioimmunoassay we have measured the contents of the ANP and its obvious changes were seen in plasma and injured cerbral tissues at diffrent times after head trauma. The results showed the ANP contents in plasma and injured cerebral tissues were a distinct diminution in normal group than the sham-operated group following head injury to 30, 90 minutes and 6 hours (P<0. 05); In 48 to 72 hours, ANP in plasma ascended, but as to 168 hours, those replyed to normal level. At the...
