This dissertation interprets methodology in Giorgio Morandi’s artistic creativity. With regarding to how does Morandi N?he things, and how does he acquire the realization of meaning in the process of transferring things into paintings, this dissertation takes a close look at the triad of Intuition, die Zeit, and die Anzeige, and their relationship as die formale Anzeige. Thereby, this dissertation intends to hew out a new path through the predicament in which contemporary painting finds itself in the mass media age.This dissertation comprise of two parts.The first part (four chapters) discusses Morandi in the Context of Contemporary Art It is about topics of: Morandi and Le Rappelàl’ordre, Morandi and Italian tradition, Morandi and Paul Cézanne, Problems which the artist encounter in the context of contemporary art presented in Morandi’s later paintings.The second part (three chapters) deals with Methodology of Morandi’s Painting. First of all, this dissertation exams intuition in Morandi’s paintings and seeing in Phenomenology, and compares Morandi’s intuition and Jan van Ruusbroec method of meditation, in order to demonstrate that in the process of painting, the artist possesses intuition, which in turn has characteristics of passive, immediate, blending into one andSelf-Extinction. Intuition is the artist’s approach to evidence.Second, this dissertation demonstrates timeliness of continuous meaning in the process of artistic creation by reviewing experienced objects, retrospective description, and die zein. Thereby, the artist raises the issue of painting to a new realm, and provides a realm of Lichtung for artistic representation.Finally, this dissertation peruses die formale Anzeige, unspeakable image and Sehenlassen to argue that the process of artistic creation possesses methodology of Gelassenheit zu den Dingen and Offenheit für das Geheimnis. This method enables the artist to enter into the original relationship with lifeworld, to reveal that which does not appear, and to abtain afluent evidence.
