As well known, static correction in rugged areas is an important problem in seiemic exploration, but it is also hard and is not resolved well at present, and related research and referring material are little. In this paper, this problem is further diccussed, and some new progresses are made.In areas with complex near-surface structure, where first-break time changes great, the first problem for statics methods based on first-break wave is picking of first-break waves. Known auto-picking methods are hard to meet demands in industrial on both speed and precision. A new method based on edge detection is introduced in this paper, which accelerates speed of picking, keeps high precision and supplies an basic tool for research of statics methods based on first-break waves.Sudden changes of surface in rugged areas disarrange travel time of seismic waves, and make it more difficult to explore in these areas. At present, all widely used static correction methods in industry are based on the Surface Consistency Hypothesis. The Surface Consistency Hypothesis supposed that the speed in low-speed layer is far less than that in bedrock, and seismic rays travel in low-speed layer vertically. So, traces of all rays from or to the certain point are exactly the same. But in mountainous regions, the hypothesis quiet conflicts with actual geologic situation, therefore , difference is presented between statics with Surface Consistency Hypothesis and statics without it (to be simple, call it surface inconsistency statics). The reason and value of the difference are diccussed. Further more, primary proposals to reduce it are introduced. To research relationships between surface consistency statics and surface inconsistency statics and to support researches of new surface inconsistency static correcton methods, a new model forwarding method si diccussed, which may perform ray tracing to refraction waves, reflection waves, transmission waves and direct waves,.This paper concentrates mainly on the following points:...
