With the increase of energy consumption and escalating energy crisis, energy supply has become a particular concern around the world. So it is necessary to carefully consider that there is a need to minimize the consumption rate of non-renewable energy. The energy policy in future should be based on renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, energy conservation, relieving the contradiction between energy supply and demand, reducing environmental pollution.Biomass is a kind of renewable resource, it is not only rich in natural but also has the low levels of ash content and sulfur content, and it will also not increase the total amount of natural carbon cycle. The research is supported by China Scholarship Council, and the cooperation is between Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Lehrstuhl fuer Umweltverfahrenstechnik und Anlagentechnik (LUAT), University Duisburg-Essen. The PhD candidate has spent two years of research in LUAT on his project entitled "Influence on gasification performance in externally heated gasifier", aiming to develop an advanced biomass gasification technique to get rich-hydrogen syngas. The main findings of this study are summarized as follows:To do some applied basic researches about bionass micron fuel. Design a set of crasher system, and the yield is 70kg/h. The system consists of concluded crasher, cyclone collector and.bag collector. Because the forest resources in most developed countries and the developing countries are very rich, so this article selects the pine for experimental research. In addition, the baneful elements N and S are of very low contents in raw materials. Therefore, pine is a kind of environment-friendly biomass resource. The pine as an energy resource by catalytic gasification process with steam was investigated in an externally heated gasifier. With the increasing of the wind powder concentration, when the particle size is up to 0.420mm,0.177mm and 0.125mm respectively, the combustion temperature are increased slightly, and then decrease slightly. When the wind powder concentration is controlled in 190g/m3~250g/m3, it can achieve a gasification temperature conditions which is needed to the experiments. To do some technology basic researches about the preparation of granulating dolomite. When additives quality percentage is below 15%, catalyst mechanical strength doesn't begin to change obviously. The temperature is 900℃, the S/B is 0.35, and the additives quality percentage is 15%,20%,25% and 30% respectively, in this condition, do some researches about gasification testes. The best quality additive percentage is 20%, and in this condition, the H2 content is about 58.27mol%.In the present work, the data show that Nano-NiO/γ-Al2O3 and calcined dolomite both have active catalyst for steam gasification of biomass. A higher temperature resulted in a higher conversion of biomass into hydrogen-rich gas with a significant increase of H2 content from 35.11 mol% to 58.27 mol%. The yield of char and tar decreased while dry gas yield increased and LHV of syngas decreased. At the presence of steam, Nano-NiO/γ-Al2O3 revealed better catalytic performance, and played an important role in lowering the rate of tar formation. To do some cost analysis for the two kinds of catalysts. The cost of granulating dolomite is about 605RMB/t, and the cost of Nano-NiO/γ-Al2O3 is about 105572RMB/t. So the granulating dolomite is more suitable for the industrial production.
