With the global iron ore grade lowing down, it is necessary to dress iron ore, and then use the concentrate to produce iron pellet for smelting. Binder must be added in the process of producing pellets. Bentonite is the preferred binder in metallurgy pellets industry.But bentonite is a kind of inorganic silicate minerals, the dosage of which affects the grade of ripe pellet, furthermore, it affects the coefficient of utilization of blast furnace`s capacity. The conventional additives is 2~3 %, advanced domestic level is 1~1.5 %. Bentonite of sorts of formation conditions and original places, has different structures, composition and properties,which will affect the development of the bentonite`s production.Thus,by using structure activity relationship and"four factors"of material science, we make researches on the relationship among structure and composition of bentonite—pellet binder-application performance, which is also called structure activity relationship of bentonite metallurgy pellet binder, in order to decrease the cost of development and explore the universal law for Bentonite products'development.Consequently, this subject has important theoretical significance and application value.The material of this subject is from Beipiao Huanyuan Mining Company, Fuxin Balou and Jinzhou Heishan, by using analysis of XRD and SEM, the structure, composition and properties are analyzed; by using experimental study on sodium process technology, organic reagents optimization of this three kinds of bentonite, the best processing condition of producing pellet has been found out; by using orthogonal experiment, the relationship on performance index between bentonite and iron ore pellet; By using analysis of TG and SEM on bentonite`s binder, the application performance index on Bibulous performance and Thermal stability is studied, and the analysis of mechanism lays a foundation for the research on structure-activity relationship. Meanwhile, bentonite of Beipiao Huayuan has been industrialization,the additive of which is 1.2 %,and it has reached the advances domestic level,and it has been applied to many Chinese Steel Companies.Based on the previous work, through a lot of bentonite pellet binder test data collection and analysis by partial least-squares regression analysis, stepwise regression, Neural Network Modeling analysis, bentonite`s blue absorption power, colloid index, swelling capacity and so on,13 factors and pellet quality index are found; The structure-activity relationship model of green ball compressive strength, ropping strength, ecrepitation temperature and Dry-Bulb compressive strength, finds out the major factors that affect pellet's performance index; Prove the model with the test data : sodium turn soil is fit in the main; Retrofit soil added organic matter auxiliary materials has some deviation,and it needs to be further study.SAR models lay the foundation for the production of bentonite pellet binder and development of automation and control software. Which can give references for development of bentonite products.
