In the exploiting,rdfining and processing of petroleum,large amount of oilwastewater will be produced.It varied considerably in types,containing complespolluting substances,hence rather difficult to be treated.Its physi-chemicaland bio-chemical degradation processes are very complicated.Tomake a deep study anddiscussion on the physi-chemical and bio-chemical degradation processes ofpetroleum hydrocarbon and its derivatives is,therefore,of great significance to theimprovement and perfection of wastewater treatment technique in petroleumchemical industry.In the paper,sources,classification,composition,characteristics of petroleum~hydrocardon wastewater are systematically expounded.In terms of oil wastewaterduring exploiting and refining and its characteristics in north Shaanxi,a pre-treatmenttechnique is put forth for such wastewater throughsystematic testing and theoretical analysis.To study and raise the treating effect of wastewater with heavy concentration of salts,based on the characteristics fo such wastewater,a coagulating agent──XG977 isdeveloped.Through analysis and testing of its treating mechanism,it is revealed thatthe agent not only enhances demulsification,but also has a great effect of flocculation,quite efficient in the treatment of petroleum hydrocarbon wastewater.Its treatingeffect is considerably superior to the presently widely used PAC,moreover,thewastewater is more accessible to be treated bio-chemically after being treated withXG977 than with PAC.A high efficient composite coagulating agent,therefore,been developed for the treatment of oil wastewater with high concentration of salts.The bio-degredability of petroleum hydrocarbons is determined by usingWarburg respiration apparatus to study their BOD,ascertaining the feasibility of bio-chemical treatment of petroleum hydrocarbon wastewater.In order to make a fruther study of bio-degredability of petroleum hydrocarbon,testing research is conducted by using oxidation pond for its treatment, and corresponding testing results are obtamed under given conditions.A tentative study isalso conducted on purifying effect of land treatment system on petroleumcontaminants with a typical plant (potato)and soils chosen in north Shaanxi.Frombo wh bo od on con-- the ds or pe inpotatoes and soils is measured so that the effect of land system to treat oil wastewaterhas been further confirmed,and a new method to treat such wastewater has beendeveloped.W'nd the StUdy an the tw at of the -- Of nd and-- pe of-- the ~ -- pe to~ wewh op ho ora nd de is ed nd boWe PCRlOO bo pe ed ou eq ds ~ andme ~ bo ~ or ot is ds -- inWe ou We ed the ch wi ~ tw pe ~ is otfor the bo -- ou ha pe as the wi ds Of COD Ods and de--; the -- bo the bo nd ed ds or-- the -- ds Of Q on -- aDd the ds Of.be op aDd for bo ou the - Of be.
