Expandable tubular technology presents a new and unique challenge to the industry, which is believed to have the potential for a substantial positive impact on the oil and gas industry's ability to maintain its role as the chief supplier of energy resources to the world economy, while enabling the industry to be less intrusive on the environment and local communities.This thesis has introduced the situation of overseas Expandable tubular technology in detail according to large numbers of foreign data. The domestic research of Expandable tubular technology just starts not long ago. The thesis give a systemic research on Expandable tubular technology, including: the rule of metal flow, the characteristic of mechanical behavior of tubulars, how in situ expansion affects tubing properties, the size and material of expansion cone, expandable connections. The main research method is theoretical analysis and test research.some fruits has been obtained after research: (1) the rule of deformation of tubular when it is expanding has been mastered, especially, the severe asymmetric deformation is found out. Asymmetric deformation is the main reason of fall of tubular performance, so the thesis takes for the primal dimension of tubular must be strictly restrict; (2) a formula for the estimation of pressure of liquid has been put forward, the results obtained from this formula are accordant with test result; (3) a formula for the estimation of the collapse resistance for casing after expansion has been put forward based on the "Jianzeng and Taihe" formula, the result obtained from this formula is accordant with foreign test results; (4) a formula for the estimation of wall thickness for casing after expansion has been put forward; (5) the characteristic of metal flow hes been mastered in the rough; (6) a scheme of expandable connection has been introduced; (7) some advice for the dimension and material of cone has been given.The fruits of the thesis is useful for choosing material of expandable tubular, designing for expansion tools and projecting technics of expansion.
