ObjectiveTo evaluate changes of vascular endothelium function in the rabbitsduring atherosclerosis and the effect of tongxinluo on vascular celladhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) , Monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-l)macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) expression of the thoracicaorta, and serum total cholesterol serum NCK plasm ET level andatherosclerosis in the rabbit model induced by high-cholesterol Diet.MethodsThirty male rabbits were divided into three groups randomly: normal dietgroup, high-cholesterol group fed with 1.5%cholesterol diet, tongxinluo group fed with 1.5%cholesterol diet and tongxinluo0.72g/(kg. d). Serum total cholesterol, serum NCK plasm ET plaqueareas, ratios of intima/media thickness and radios of VCAM-1/GAPDHmRNA MCP-1 /GAPDH mRNA M-CSF /GAPDH mRNA of the thoracic aorta weredeterminate after twelve weeks .ResultsSerum total cholesterol level of tongxinluo group was decreased thanhigh-cholesterol group (P<0. 05) , and they were both much higher than those of normal diet group (P
