To research the essence of syndromes is very important to modernise Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). How to reveal the essence of syndromes exploring syndromes by using research results of modern life sciences on whole and part, macroscopic and microcosmic, function and form etc is urgent to solve for modernisation of TCM. The theories of spleen-stomach are important contents of the theoretical system of TCM. In last years TCM has made development on the research of deficiency syndrome in spleen, but is in an initial stage on the research of excess syndrome in spleen-stomach , without deep-going research. So to strengthen the research of excess syndrome in spleen-stomach can better reveal the zang-fu organs' essence of spleen-stomach and prevent and treat spleen-stomach diseases. In the study I selected damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach and deficiency syndrome in spleen of Chronic Superficial Gastritis (CSG) as the research objective, exploring the essence of damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach with CSG in inflammatory cytokine, gastrointestinal hormones, protection for gastric mucous membrane etc, observing general clinical characters of damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach with CSG, considering clinical curative effect and mechanism of Chinese medicine wei-ping capsule. In this way we can adequately realize the essence of damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach, and better treat damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach.Review: chiefly summarized realization of damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach in TCM, summed up current research progress on essence and treatment of damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach with CSG; systematically discussed research progress on pathologic mechanism of CSG in inflammatory cytokine, gastrointestinal hormones, protection for gastric mucous membrane etc; the others summarized and elaborated the science ideas of my tutor professor Tian delu.Essence research: selected damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach and deficiency syndrome in spleen of Chronic Superficial Gastritis (CSG) as the research objective, observing general clinical characters such as age, sex, course of diseases etc, and microcosmic characters such as endoscopic show, pathology, H.pylori infection etc. We investigated the essence of damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach with CSG, measuring expression of inflammatory cytokine of gastric mucous membrane: IL-8, TNF- α , iNOS and gastrointestinal hormones: Gas, SS by using immunohistochemical method, mensurating levels of serum Gas and gastric mucous membrane PGE2 by using radioimmunoassay method.Chinese medicine interference: observed clinical curative effect of Chinese medicine wei-ping capsule treating damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach with CSG, adopting random parallel control two-blind method, and explored part effect mechanism of wei-ping capsule, analysing pre- and post- treatment level changes of gastric mucous membrane IL-8,TNF-α ,iNOS and gastrointestinal hormones Gas,SS as well as serum Gas and gastric mucous membrane PGE2.Research results:Essence research:(1) Average age of the damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach with CSG group was 36.4 years, in which aging 18-49 years held 76.4% , aging 30-39 were in peak (34.2%). Morbidity of male was higher than female , which was 65.8%. Average course was 1.78 years, in which course under 1 year is 55.3%. In the deficiency syndrome in spleen group morbidity of male was similar to female, average age was 41.6 years, average course was 2.98. The two groups had no significant difference in sex age and course(P<0.05). In the damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach with CSG group endoscopic gastric mucous membrane made serious inflammation, accompanied with erosion (55.3%) and more turbid mucus in mucous pool (60.5%); Secondary chronic inflammation was 63.2% in pathology, mild and serious inflammation was 18.4% each; active inflammation was 78.9%, mostly secondary (42.1%); the rate of H.pyloh infection was higher (52.6%). In the deficiency syndrome in spleen group The damp-heat syndrome of spleen-stomach group endoscopic gastric...
