Garcinia mangostana L.(Guttiferae),commonly known as mangosteen which is its fruit,is a slow-growing tropical evergreen tree.From the 85%ethanol extract of the pericarps of G.mangostana L.,an oil product(M1)and 35 compounds were isolated by chromatography and recrystallization.The composition of M1 was studies by MS-MS.On the basis of spectroscopic analysis(NMR,MS)and physico-chemical characters,35 compounds were identified as:tetrahydrothwaitesixanthone (1),β-Sitosterol(2),BR-xanthone A(3),isonormangostin(4),1,6-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-8-(3-methylbut-3-enyl)-6',6'-dimethyl-4',5'-dihydropyr ano[2',3':3.2]xanthone(5),1,6-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-8-(3-methylbut-3-enyl)-6'.6'-dimethyi-4',5'-dihydropyrano[2',3':1,2]xanthone(6),α-mangostin-3,6-diyl diacetate(7),8-deoxygartanin(8),8-hydroxycudraxanthone G(9),gartanin(10),1,6-dihydroxy-3-methoxy-2-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)-6',6'-dimethyl-4'.5'-dihydropyrano[2',3':7,8]xanthone(11),1,3,6-trihydroxy-2.5-bis(3-methyibut-2-enyl)-6',6'-dimethyl-4',5'-dihydropyrano[2',3':7,8]xant hone(12),1.6-dihydroxy-8-(2-hydroxy-3-methylbutyl)-7-methoxy-6'.6'-dimethyl-4'.5'-dihydropyrano[2',3':3,2]xanthone(13),7-O-methylgarcinone E(14),garcinone E(15),cowaxanthone B(16),β-mangostin(17), α-mangostin(18),cowaxanthone A(19),3-hydroxy-6-methoxy-5'-isopropyl-4',5'-dihydrofuro[2',3':7,8]-6",6"-dimethyl-4",5"-dihydropyrano[ 2",3":1,2]xanthone(20),1,6-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-8-(3-hydroxy-3-methylbutyl)-6',6'-dimethyl-4',5'-dihydropyrano[2',3':3,2]xanthone(21),3-isomangostin(22),trapezifolixanthone(23),brasilixanthone B(24),1-isomangostin(25),garcinone B(26),1,5-dihydroxy-3-methoxy-2 -(3-methylbut-2-enyl)xanthone(27),allanxanthone A(28),2,4-di-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)-1.3,8-trihydroxy-5-methoxy-xanthone(29),mangostinone (30),1.5.8-trihydroxy-3-methoxy-2-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)xanthone(31),γ-mangostin(32),1,4,8-trihydroxy-6-methyl-3-methoxy-9,10-anthraquinone (33),rutin(34),α-D-glucose(35).Compound 5,6,11,12,13,20 were new compounds.Compound 23,24,28,33 were first obtained from Garcinia.Established hyperlipidemia pharmacological experimental model of ra bbits,through preventive and curative treatment,the effect of the extract of pericarps of Garcinia mangostana L.(EPGM)had been studied on li pids,liver lipid content,hemorheology,pathological aspects.The results show that:1.EPGM has preventive and therapeutical effect in experimental hy perlipidemia rabbits.2.EPGM can reduce blood viscosity and improve hemorheology in experimental hyperlipidemia rabbits.3.EPGM can can inhibit vcular parthology changes,and thus preve nt the formatinn of atherosclerosis in xperimental hyperlipidemia animal.
