Research On Zhang Xichun's Prescriptions Of Treating Stroke Disease

Discourse on Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine includes 32 prescriptions for windstroke, which is analysed by Excel and SPSS, and has been found Daizheshi, Huainiuxi, crude Hangshao, Danggui, crude Huangqi, crude Huaidihuang, Ruxiang, Moyao, crude Longgu, crude Muli and so on. Doctor Zhang mainly used drugs for promoting Blood circulation by removing Blood Stasis, for nourishing yin, for calming Liver to stop endogenous Wind, for nourishing qi, for nourishing blood and for regulating qi flow, among which the drugs for promoting Blood circulation by removing Blood Stasis are mainly Huainiuxi, Ruxiang, Moyao, Zhechong, crude Jineijin, and drugs for nourishing yin and blood are mainly crude Huaidihuang, crude Huaishanyao, Shanyurou, Xuanshen, Gouqi, crude Hangshao and Danggui.Drugs for calming Liver to stop endogenous wind are mainly Daizheshi, crude Longgu, crude Muli and crude shijueming. Drugs for nourishing qi are crude Huangqi, Renshen and Baizhu. Drugs for regulating qi are Yinchen and crude Maiya. Analysed by the drug coefficient, Huainiuxi usually matches Daizheshi, Daizheshi matches Crude Hangshao, Ruxiang matches Moyao, crude Huangqi matches Danggui, Longgu matches Muli, crude Shanyao matches crude Huaidihuang, and Longgu matches Yinchen. Analysed by factors, according to the importance of factors in the prescriptions for windstroke, Doctor Zhang divided his prescriptions into brain congestion and brain anemia. Mechanism for brain congestion is endogenous wind of liver, excess of liver yang, and qi and blood to invade into brain. Thus vessels of brain are congestive and even broken. Yin deficiency, qi deficiency and blood stasis are the important factors for brain congestion. Crude Hangshao, crude Huaidihuang, crude Shanyao, Xuanshen, Shanyurou are used for nourishing deficiency of yin of both liver and kidney. Daizheshi, Longgu, Muli and crude Shijueming are used for stopping endogenous wind of liver. Huainiuxi, Zhechong and crude Jineijin are used to relieve blood stasis. Yinchen is used to relieve qi stagnancy of liver. Mechanism for brain anemia is qi and blood deficiency, which cannot nourish brain and causes qi and blood stasis and windstroke. Deficiency of qi, yin and blood and blood stasis are the main factors for brain anemia. Crude Huangqi, Danggui, Baizhu are use to nourish qi and blood. Doctor Zhang used Ruxiang, Moyao for disability of windstroke, processed Maqianzi for longterm disability, Huainiuxi, Daizheshi, Longgu and Muli for stringy and rigid pulse to stopping endogenous liver Wind. Crude Huangqi, Renshen for slow and weak pulse to nourish pectoral qi. His prescriptions are characterized by exuding heat, larger quantity, which are in accordance with liver condition.Compared with Wang Qingren, Doctor Wang Qingren mainly use Buyanghuaiwutang to nourish qi and blood for he thought qi deficiency caused stasis, while Doctor Zhang Xichun thought brain anemia could be treated with drugs for nourishing qi and blood, but early brain congestion should be forbidden with Buyanghuaiwutang and for the mid and late should be very carefully treated during deficiency of qi and blood. With analysis and discussion, brain congestion includes hemorrhagic stroke as well as part of ishemic stroke, which both belong to yin deficiency of liver and kidney, liver yang rising, and irregulation of qi and blood.with high blood pressure and wiry pulse. Brain anemia includes part of ischemic stroke due to deficiency of qi and blood and blood stasis with low blood pressure and slow and weak pulse. Zhenganxifengtang, jianlingtang function in calming liver wind but not enough for relieving blood stasis. Modern doctors usually use them for high blood pressure, but for numb body and disability should be together with drugs for relieving blood stasis, the best of which is drugs for removing heat and stasis of blood, such as Danshen, Jixueteng, Chishao. Qiweitang and Yangnaolizhitang are mainly used for mid and late of windstroke due to rising of liver yang, blood stasis in brain channel and deficiency of qi and blood. Doctor Zhang's prescription for brain anemia are used for ischemic stroke due to deficiency of qi and blood and blood stasis. Drugs for removing wind, Renshen and Huangqi may be with larger quantity for anemia stroke according to qi and blood deficiency and slow and weak pulse and low blood pressure. If for hemorrhagic stroke, the early stage should be carefully treated, and for sequelae may be used slightly. Drugs for eliminating phlegm will be researched later, but for stroke with phlegm stasis in airway, drugs for eliminating phlegm may be used. For stroke with high blood fat or sugar, according to Pharmacology research, some drugs for eliminating phlegm function in lowing blood fat or sugar.
