Not only ideological and political education theory of ancient China presented great richness and diversity, but also formed the ideological and political education pattern accordingly. Combining with the theoretical basis and historical premise of the pattern formation,the paper analyzes historical process, constitutive elements, historical characteristics, function and modern enlightenment of the ideological and political education pattern of the Western Han Dynasty with linking-theory-with-practice-research-principle and making-the-past-serve-the-present-principle comprehensively.Five questions are mainly addressed in the present paper:The first chapter mainly expounds the theoretical origins and historical premise of the ideological and political education pattern of the Western Han Dynasty. The Confucian theory of ideological and political education in Pre-Qin Dynasty was a main theoretical origins for the formation of the Pattern.The lesson of the Qin dynasty's perishing and the gain and loss of the ideological and political education practice of Qin dynasty constructed the historical premise of the Pattern.The second chapter studys the historical formation process of the ideological and political education pattern of the Western Han Dynasty basically. The Pattern formation experienced three stages. From Han Emperor to JingDi,the pattern is in the process of forming stage of exploration. The period of Wu Emperor is the formation stage of the pattern. The period of the post- Wu Emperor is the perfect stage of the pattern.The third chapter analysis the structure and constitute factors of the ideological and political education pattern of the Western Han Dynasty specificly. Its components include education content,basic methods, realization way and the main objects, etc.The fourth chapter carrys out related research on the system support and historical characteristics of the ideological and political education pattern of the Western Han Dynasty. SanLao, national education and ChaJu system provided the support for the Pattern. Meanwhile, the Pattern formed under specific historical conditions and it was with the characteristics of that times inevitablely.On the foregoing research, the fifth chapter evaluates the historical roles and limitations of the ideological and political education pattern of the Western Han Dynasty. Adhering to historical point of view, it tries to achieve the objective and fair evaluation. Meanwhile, in line with the principle of making-the-past-serve-the-present, this chapter also confesses modern enlightenment getting from the research on the Pattern.
