Discussing the relationship between the ancient Chinese music and literature in the context of the Chinese cultural tradition is a hot topic in academia. This paper chooses the interactive relationship between the ancient Chinese musical language and literary language as the central theme. Based on the evolution of the ancient Chinese music and literature, this paper discusses the evolutionary process and features of the two language systems from the origin to the separation of the two art categories, and then comes to a general conclusion about their relationship. The aim of this paper is to draw a more historically truthful conclusion about various matters and the close relationship between the ancient Chinese music and literature from the perspective of languages. This paper begins with a brief introduction to the language system of music as well as the methods and current situation of research in this field, and points out the importance of the methodology extension to the research of music morphology, and then proves the reasonability and feasibility of studying the ancient Chinese music through investigating the literary text. Meanwhile, this paper describes the common prerequisite of the generation of the two art languages, i.e., the birth of daily language, and then points out the limitations of daily language in human narration and expression. This paper holds that the pursuit of making daily language more efficient and artistic has promoted the birth of art language. On this basis, this paper, with the analysis of relevant texts that date back to the origin of arts (the ancient arts), stresses the homology of the ancient Chinese musical language and literary language. By illustrating the common trends reflected in the aspects of narration and expression, even numbers and odd numbers, rhyme and no rhyme, etc. in the formation of the two language systems, this paper proves that the two language systems have "blood ties" from their origins. Taking the music and poetry of "The Book of Songs", Yuefu, the Tang Dynasty and the Song Dynasty as examples, this paper analyses the interactive relationship between the two art languages when born in the same cultural event, especially the basic corresponding relationship between their forms and features. This provides a more reasonable explanation for many questions in the field of the ancient Chinese culture and art. In addition, given the fact that many musical literary forms finally broke away from music in the history of Chinese literature, this paper discusses the distinct features of the two art categories when compared with each other. This paper holds that the different ways of expression of the two language systems have led to this result, and states that though separated, they can still draw on the merits of each other.
