Here is an thesis on Cun (皴) and Cunfa (皴法) which are important visual genes of Chinese landscape painting, in the horizontal coordinate of contrast western rational culture to Chinese poetic culture and vertical coordinate from Chinese figural painting to landscape painting, clarifying the inevitability, prerequisite, particularity of the birth of Cun and CunFa, and demonstrating the synchronous relationship between them and the development of Chinese landscape/different artist has different character of Cun and CunFa. The thesis emphasizes analogy language of Cun and CunFa, two systems of FuPiCun and PiMaCun and traces their evolvement, variation in the different ages.The thesis is the beginning of author' s research on skill theory of Chinese painting. After understanding the skills of brush, ink, water, color and composition, the research will step up the skills from experience to theory, and will help them development and renewal.
