This dissertation is focused on the entertainment feature of Yu Li's drama and novelworks, who was a famous writer at the era in between the Ming and Qing Dynasties.Needlessly to say, Li's opportunist life style and varying position between eleganceand vulgarity lead to the contemporary controversial appraisal to his product. Mostimportantly, Li's particular writing approach makes him a repellant against thetradition of Chinese ancient literature. Li is one of the earliest professional writerswho apply their artistic talent and narrating techniques consciously to serve theparticular anticipated readers. The traditional literature criticism, however, overlookthe general review of Li's creation. Centering the research on the morality or partialanalysis of Li's sing!e product, most critiques fail to go to the essence of Li's writingfeature. In view of this, the thesis regards the amusement as the foundation of LiYu'works, to explain the writing psychology of the Li Yu and elaborates his worksincluding the moulding of the personage, characteristic of ideology, narrative means,language&rhetoric and the whole writing style,etc.The thesis discusses suchcharacteristics, achievements and limitations in LiYi'works,and puts them in therecreational tradition of the ancient Chinese dramas and novels ,which becomes thevery necessary choice. Besides, when it comes into expounding the fact, this textattends to overcome the tradition trend of separating the literature form from thecontent ,pay attention to explaining the question from the text, and absorb the helpfulcomposition of the western articles and opinions to make the new discussion of LiYu's works. This paper also tries hard to discuss the characteristic of Li Yu's works inthe framework of the whole literature history, which analyse LiYu'works comparedwith the communicating part of Contemporary Literature. The problems concernedwith by paper,just as the female images in drama, the"farce"factor, the narration andrhetoric form in LiYu'novels, the homosexual phenomena of the works, and the integration of self- consciousness and audience's consciousness in the works, some are topics not paid attention to by the researchers at present, others are the difficulty in current studies on LiYu. Since the paper choose the amusement as the center, it ispossible to make the actual explanation on the issue. The creation of Li Yu ispervaded by the style consciousness and individual consciousness copared with thesimilar works lacking of feature of fictitiousness in the ancient Chinese literaryworld, which possesses certain reference value to Contemporary Literature for hisrecreational pursuit, no matter the merit or the shortcoming. The ideological idea of LiYu is some kind of opposite of feudal ethics specification and the life principle ofChinese legitimism, whose unique writing style has also carries out some kind ofinnovation for the traditional opera&novel . He faces nature, enjoys life,which ishelpful for the development of man's creative thought. Therefore when we talk aboutthe creative phychology of Li Yu and the artistic feature of his works ,we candemonstrate the literature during Late Ming Dynasty and Early Qing Dynasty moreaccurately and fully ,which undoubtedly is very important .Li Yu condemns variouskinds of things of social inequality in playful way, and he put the graceful and vulgaraction together with obscure intention, who sneers at the folk custom in kindheartedway. These brought a burst of laughs to the people at the past or now, which makehim leave his own unique sound in the history of Ancient Chinese literature.
